Idyllic Mood.

NYC is officially on hurricane lockdown, meaning we're all essentially having what amounts to a snow day sprinkled with the angst of pending disaster (i.e., mass transit shut down, panic run on the grocery stores for water + batteries, etc.). Styling-wise, this meant a calming neutrals palette was definitely in order. I slipped on the newest nude suede ruched skirt & belted blazer set by Ricielli, this deliciously messy, 2-tone "Josie" style new by Truth + some new coral-toned Donna Flora jewels. And since some alcohol is never amiss in a disaster, this free yummy pumpkin cocktail helped calm the nerves a bit. *slurps generously*
We NYCers are no strangers to weather; still, I must say that these whirling "wind tunnel" noises are a bit scary. Searching for flashlights love + fashionista kisses to all!

Hugged To Death

Kiki The Clown knew she only had moments to win over Death. She had heard he was in a grim mood + was only too aware of the devastating havoc Death could wreak on mankind if his foul temper got the better of him. She even put on her special "Space Invaders" necklace + her most fetching pumpkin bag to help.
"Hugs," she thought suddenly. "Nobody can resist a hug!"

Death soon came ambling around the corner.
Death was sooo over those freaking disrespectful humans, especially around Halloween. -- People dressing up + impersonating him? The whole giant scythe as accessory thing? And all for some stupid candy? Please!

He was just about to curse humanity into oblivion once and for all when he heard a girlish voice call out to him.

"Oh Deathie-Poo, gimme a hug!" cried Kiki.

"What's all this?" thought Death. "I'm Death, for Chrissakes! I don't "do" hugs!"
Still, Death allowed the colorful girl to hug him. She felt warm and cuddly. He noticed that she smelled nice too.

"Hey, this feels good," thought Death.
Kiki giggled. Death didn't seem like the terrifying evil demon that everybody said he was. Plus she was definitely gonna have to look into the whole saving the world thing as a new career move. All that clown stuff was getting to be a snooze anyway.

To Our Friend Kaori, The Sadist.

It's with tremendous sadness that I am sharing with you that my friend creator Kaori Masala will be leaving SL + closing her fabulous dEVOL store on May 31, 2010. -- Kaori calls herself a "sadist" (+ will giggle as she tells you that) since she loves SL + knows she will miss it, but she needs to focus more on her RL. (Boy did I throw a mighty temper tantrum when I learned all of this).
In honor of the store's closing, everything at dEVOL is now 50% off. These hot pink fishnets, tattoo, black "hoodie" shrug + jean shorts I'm wearing are all by dEVOL (I really luhs the texturing work on dEVOL's jeans + these lace-topped fishnets are the fierceness). -- I paired this look with a free motorcycle vest by Kamikaze (there's a killer Asian script detail on the back of this vest that makes it something special).

Adventures of the Junior Meat Mafia, Vol. 1: Hooch Quest

Sometimes you just need a break from the whole craziness of SL fashion. Which is why me + my buddies Dorothy Button and Gavin McGinnis decided to form a new crew: the Junior Meat Mafia. Our quest: to seek out all things meat. But hey, we're inclusive. We also look for all yummeh stuff to wash it all down with.

Having heard rumors of a moonshine distillery in SL, of course we Junior Meat Mafia members just had to investigate. Look at these enormous orange vats we found tucked away on a horse farm (see them behind me?) Sneaky!
Taste testing is tres important. I snuck my own jug o' hooch faster than you can say Johnny Walker. *Giggles + gulps it down* Heeey. I feel fiiine.
Dorothy was busy scanning the area for hidden moonshine vats. See how she makes the country Western thing look supaglam?
Usually I'd say that Dorothy is one of the most normal people I know. But after knocking back some o' that moonshine, an intense, crazy competitive streak began to reveal itself."Looky here Junior Meat Mafia peoples, I discovered this here moonshine. It's all mine. I'm saying, this town ain't big enough for the three of us." (Notice Gavin guzzling his moonshine quietly in the background during this time). This was also when I began to wonder whether our trip to the gun factory right before was quite as brilliant as I had originally thought.What was that? Did you guys hear a cop car?
There's nothing like the threat of external authority to make everybody friends again. OK Junior Meat Mafia internal conflicts resolved! We scooted outta there pretty quick.

That moonshine must've really done a number on us, 'cuz suddenly we felt an overwhelming urge to dance with the cows. (We are the Junior Meat Mafia! Must spend quality time with our food source). -- Turns out that the only dance the cows knew was the Hokey Pokey, so we humans followed along as best we could. We weren't great at it, but we knew the cows had to respect us anyway 'cuz we had our guns + stuff.

"You put your right foot in, you put your right foot out . . ."
"You put your right foot in and you shake it all about . . ."
"You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around . . ."
"That's what it's all about."
The country Western thing was growing on us, so we donned our favorite antlers for some pose striking, Western-style. (We Junior Meat Mafia members like to envision ourselves as meat whenever possible. It's kinda our thing).
Something about the brown horns + wooly red hat made these free antlers totally go with Dorothy's plaid outfit.
You wouldn't know it, but the cacti (that's plural for cactus, for all you non-Western-hailing folk) seemed to enjoy having us around. We think Gavin was their fave. (He braved their needles + stood the closest to them).
Gavin and I's antlers came from Callie Cline + they were just lovely. You could almost hear the tinkling of these pretty little ornaments hanging so daintily from them. Gavin's had tiny miniature stockings + candy canes draped over the horns. I adored mine too. Who can resist antlers with pink ornaments?
All of us totally loved these free reindeer slippers (which come with their own decorated mini-antlers) from Rebel Hope Designs. Aren't they just darling? Li'l furry white "cotton ball" tails for your feets! *faints, dies*
It was time to scare up some 'cue (the saucy ribs kind, with sides), so we Junior Meat Mafia members headed in search of some grub.

Stripes have been popping up all over the grid lately + we fashionistas have been gobbling 'em up like the fresh roasted turkey meat that we's a-gonna be enjoying in a few weeks. With stuffing + sides. Yum.
Twisted & Spoiled's newest group gift is this striped deep V-neck tank + these superlow-slung, unbuttoned jeans. I'm really digging this dark, smoky plum color. This store's gifts are always so generous (typically including an accessory or three); this time it's a corded leather necklace with cute beads that totally works with this casual look.

I've been liking the body "glow" on the free Bishwear skin gifts + this one is no exception. (It's hard to tell, but the dark eye makeup lightly "runs" at the corners -- such a smexeh touch). I love how this warm, light latte skin tone totally works with today's $50L Fridays hair from Lamb. Aren't these heavy fringe bangs supaflirty? I love today's stripey scarves from Artilleri for $50L Fridays. You get 2: the peachy melon + the silvery blue/cherry combos are so yums.
In other news, I have found my new favorite shoe: the brand-new open-toe "Boudoir" bootie by Kalnins. OMG do I heart these. The heel-to-shoe ratio is pencil-thin smexeh and I drool over these luscious, suparealistic textures. The color-change HUD is the joy for those of us who love to obsess about color details. *drives me-self crazy with seemingly infinite color combos nom nom nom*
The next Ode To Stripe is a flirtatious green number I found at SK Designs. This sexygear store has bordering-on-scandalous designs + a whole discount area on the top floor near the lucky chairs. I paired this sweater with the playful, raspberry-striped Strayer scarf, complete with little-girl star patches + large stitching seams. It's superflowy when you wear it too, which makes wearing it way fun.
This $50L outfit came complete with pretty thigh-high striped wooly socks. The ribbony stripes are so pretty+ I love the bare midriff. Who says winter has to be practical? Not me! I also added shiny black stomping boots + this free supacute gold-striped "corset purse" from House of Sanu.
Winter Moon's store closing has many people shedding a few tears, including moi. *sniffs* Everything is now $50L + there are some good finds here. This $50L "Scrum" dress is ripped in multiple places + even comes with its own holey stockings. I've been living for these Fishy Strawberry torn net ones however (love how the long, single seam crawls right up the hiney) so I paired those with this dress instead.
Don't even get me started on these N-Core superhigh schoolgirl heels with ruffled white anklet socks. I've had them forever and they are still. The. Smex.
We never do this, but Gavin + I did the matchy-matchy thing last night. I'm wearing a free Djunk dress that's not new, but still remains one of the hands-down fiercest stripey finds right now (aren't these green & gray stripes delish?) Definitely go grab it if you haven't already; it also comes in several other eye-popping colors. (While you're at it, scoop everything else, at both locations. Everything. Is. Free. Your inventory might not thank you, but you will feel drunk with power).
Gavin has been eyeing this black & white striped polo from Sey + he finally scooped it last night. Doesn't he look amazing in it?
I love Sey's edgy-yet-elegant styles, especially for men. Something about their designs makes the hipster thing look totally flawless + elegant. This black belt is spot-on with this look (good job G! Hee). Gavin finished this look with his fave SoReal sneaks.
Too bad we didn't come upon any giant striped candy canes last night. We did, however, discover some giant striped pink teddy bears at Tigerclaw (another everything is free store).
