Ricielli Spring.

Creator Fhara Acacia's new Springtime 2014 collection for her iconic Ricielli brand features her signature fresh color palette (both prints & solids), in the form of fun, mix 'n match separates that are so perfect for the season's warmer climes.
As to be expected with Ricielli releases, it's all about the li'l extras: look for double angled zippers (yum!); scrumptious plays on texture (quilted vs smooth leathers, as just 1 example); and plays between form-fitted + loose draping that are so fun to play with when styling looks. Fhara is also offering the newest "fitted meshes," which you can see by enabling the "Advanced Lighting Model" (under "Develop" + "Rendering," if you use Firestorm). -- See how nicely these fitted meshes hug the buttie area? Tres helpful when you've got bear cubs trying to distract you (+ you can't fix a wedgie, hehe).
And here's a better look at this 1-piece from Ricielli; the wide belted look with the shortie loose shorts make our avis look so long-legged, no? -- Btw it's hard work lifting your leg whilst posing in a fairy forest! In Memoriam.

As anyone who's spent any time in SL knows, our metaverse can be a curious place. The grid, which itself is ever-changing, plays host to a strange permanence: at any time, you can login, exist in an entirely orchestrated environment, and somehow feel that things will never change. As we all know, this is hardly true; and this summer, the SL community lost 1 of its most extraordinary artists and creators -- and a great believer in this little blog -- creator Squinternet Larnia of Donna Flora.

I've been waiting to write about the memorial garden that's been built in Squinternet's honor since I wasn't quite sure what to say about it, or how to talk meaningfully about Squint's passing. I finally visited the garden last week, and I can safely say this: it's a very peaceful, serene place, a gentle nod to Squinternet's rustic countryside build that she previously created in her spectacular Bonin SIM, and someplace that you can imagine Squinternet herself would have enjoyed very much. With just a hint of flourish in the pouffed-out tiers on the garden's back walls, small whitewashed cubbyholes for lit candles to cast their sparkling, delicate lights like little jewels, and pastel pink lotus blossoms floating in the azure garden pools, there are traces of Squinternet's love of color, beauty and elegance all over the place. It made me deeply sad that she would never lay eyes on it.

You still have time to visit Squinternet's beautiful Memorial Garden here (I believe her friends are hoping it will stay until the end of the month). Even if you never knew her, you can still enjoy the tranquility of these gardens, and perhaps say a little prayer of peace for the great lady that inspired them.

The Rarest of Gems.

It's truly rare in any life that you get to witness exceptional kindness and a concerted effort towards helping others, but this week we are all lucky enough to witness precisely such a thing. Donna Flora creator Squinternet Larnia has been battling a terminal illness, and her friend (and very great lady of SL) Cajsa Lilliehook has organized an event to help Squinternet pay for the frighteningly expensive treatments than can prolong her life. You can read more about Squinternet's battle on the official event blog here; you can do even more by attending the Love Donna Flora event + dropping whatever you can (even if just $1L) into a donations box (they are located on every single vendor cart); or buying anything at the new Donna Flora location here; or just taking the time to drop Squinternet a quick note on the Love Donna Flora website here (Cajsa mentioned to me that Squinternet reads the event blog daily, usually after her doctor's visits, to help lift her spirits).

The Love Donna Flora event opens today, and in a moving testament to how deeply things like mutual respect, admiration and empathy are felt in our li'l virtual fashionista world, over 130 creators have come together to make something for the event, with most of the vendors set at 100% donation to Squinternet. -- And if that wasn't enough reason to visit, you've simply got to take a look at the ZOMG wow factor build, which transports you deep into the rustic Italian countryside, bursting with looming cypress trees, rows upon rows of wooden vineyards + shabbily crumbling walls, so artfully put together by smexeh blogger lady Felicity Blumenthal, who I think should take up a SL career in landscaping (don't you sooo want her doing your back yard? I do)!

Many, many thanks to Cajsa Lilliehook for putting together this truly special event, and to all of the creators and organizers who have helped make it happen.

And to Squinternet: your creations have been such a joy to photograph and style over the years, and you have been such a cherished amica. Donna Flora will always be special to SLexy Fashionista, since it will never be forgotten that you were such a strong supporter of this li'l blog over the years -- even in our earliest days, when no one else was -- and you were a big reason why our love of SL grew into anything at all. Most importantly, it is such an indescribable privilege to know such a great friend, artist and person. Silver Linings.

You can never have enough heels, especially the razor-thin stilettos kind.
Baiastice creator Sissy Pessoa's newest snakeskin stilettos come with oodles of texture-change sock options. Usually one for punched-up color, I was immediately drawn to this muted, soft silvery tone (which I found tres elegant with these teensy black polka-dotted socks).
All this silver landed me squarely in a retro Hollywood glam mood, so I dressed it up with some trailing diamond jewels, the latest sideswept "Caprice" updo by Truth that I've been obsessed with for weeks + the sparkly, silvery gray "Platinum" shade of Ikon's latest Ardent eyes. My go-to 1-shoulder "Dakota" dress by Maitreya finished this no-fuss silvery look.
And since I've still been obsessing over new home decor stuffs, here are some free pretties for those with a green thumb: this free gardening desk (complete with clay flowerpots, seed packets, "Biologica" dirt sack + some wooden tray things), which I combined with these gorges single plants in gardening soil sacks (you get 3 different mesh ones for free by El Patio Inc.).
Speaking of El Patio Inc., I'm so glad that creator Denise Rowlands graciously invited me to check out her striking Crash Boat SIM, since this place is simply crammed with ready-made ops for photogs. Be sure to wander past the stores plaza to check out the abandoned railway cars, rustic  wooden bridge, rainy mountaintop scene (complete with tucked-away cozy shack!) & even a solitary control tower. My fave was simply taking in the glowing sunset on the boat-strewn beach, which was broken up beautifully by tiny flowing streams + whitewashed logs. This beach actually so reminded me of my fave sandy spots in Hawaii; Denise really got that mix of solitude + artfully-strewn nature just right! Most def on my permanent must-TP list as a serene hideout for some good old-fashioned peace + quiet.

Essences creator Inka Mexicola has 3 new skin tones out at TDR Fusion that offer 3 vibrant eye makeups with her trademark intelligentsia face, which I found particularly compelling in the brunette version, framed by these unapologetically dark brows. Some tangly, octopus-like gemstone earring clips by Donna Flora, a new sable-hued shortie hair by Tram + the luminous, oceanic "Skyfall" hued eyes by Ikon framed this gamine face.
Don't ya just love it when your li'l winged friends bring you gemstones? Today was emeralds (how'd he know this was perfect for today's look)? Hehe.

Country Spring.

The newest round of Collabor88 is filled with oodles of girlie things for this month's theme of "Kitsch." I combined some new bright turquoise floral jewelry by Donna Flora with some rustic finds, including this "grandma" floral sweater + ruffled miniskirt by Teefy, an celopod print mini-hobo purse (perhaps, "nouveau grandma") by The Sea Hole & the latest luxuriously pouffed "Elisha" low pony style by Truth (a thoroughly modern hair, shown in the 2nd pic below). -- With all these warmer climes (finally), I just had to get my ice cream sundae fix; can't forget the li'l round straw wafer, either. *spills ice cream on sweater, licks it off*
Check out the newest "Margot" face by Glam Affair, i.e., yet another major skin find available at Collabor88. -- I really like the knowing smile on this face; it's like a slightly more coy version of the "Amberly" skin that swept the grid earlier this year. Springtime Romance.

A few shots today showing a new non-New Joisey white metal-studded look by Ricielli, which I paired with this utterly retro glam, sideswept swirled updo by Truth that's the very definition of Springtime romance, 'specially with these cascading curls tumbling delicately onto the shoulder (btw did anyone else see the feature on The New York Times about how retro bridal is in now? I sooo want those Great Gatsby wedding gowns as RL party dresses!) + the latest "Ardent" eyes release by IKON, which simply glow with their usual luminous realism (I particularly loved the steely gray-blue "Platinum," the new must-have blue "Skyfall" hue + the golden tawny "Parchment" shades shown here).
Speaking of Springtime romances, I just had to get in some quality woo-woo time with the sheep.

City Spring by Maitreya.

Creator Onyx LeShelle's newest designs satisfyingly deliver on the shopperista anticipation that always surrounds the newest releases for her iconic Maitreya brand.
One thing I always appreciate about the Maitreya releases is the consistent, oh-so-easy elegance: creator Onyx LeShelle's designs are never fussy or overworked, focusing instead on what all fashionistas know makes all the difference: a close attention to detail. Check out the realistic "folds" of the drapery in these tops, and just a hint of shadows on the teensy straps of the feet (it's also fun that you get tons of color + texture combos on the straps + the platforms, making it easy to tailor any look).
These vibrant, feminine color palettes make these extremely wearable pieces all the more alluring for Spring.
And since it's always smart to spend your $L on pieces that are truly versatile, it's nice that these casual separates work together so seamlessly, so that you can fluidly style different types of looks.
