The Good Girl.

The newest round at Collabor88 explores the rich theme of "Nostalgia," which most of the C88 designers have seemed to interpret as classic, timeless pieces with just a hint of vintage, which seem to go with just about everything. Across all of the offerings, what struck me about this ensemble are the superluxe textures: soft, satiny sheens; lustrous oversized pearls; + sweetly-trimmed ribboned separates. I couldn't resist mixing these beautiful silks, satins & pearl textures together; the new "Ainsley" shoulder-length shag by Truth -- 1 of my current must-haves for its easy, facile cool -- offered a modern, mussed-up touch to these traditional good-girl styles. 

Don't you find that candy is an instant mood-lifter? (That is, unless you interact with it in this absolutely @#$! rip-your-hair-out way. Curse you superfun evil genius game!)

Btw these close-ups are 'cuz I am sooo utterly in luhs with this new Glam Affair skin (named after one of SL's most prolific bloggers). I found the entire makeup line so pretty and glamorous; normally, I would have gone my usual dark hair tones for this look, but I thought that this light blonde was such a pretty foil against these sumptuous eggplant hues.

Styling Studies.

Don'tcha just love it when SL iconic creators relaunch their store in the name of bigger + better things? Fishy Strawberry creator Fae Eriksen has done just that (hence her crazy sale at the end of last year), and as per usual, Fae's new 2014 mesh releases are impeccably detailed + are such a creative fusion of both the girlie + the smex. I always appreciate that the Fishy Strawberry looks are extremely versatile: you can mix 'n match the different pieces so easily, which as fashionistas know, is tres important when trying to find that perfect piece to finish a look. For me, this means that Fae's designs are always a smart buy.

Btw I would be amiss if I didn't mention this free braided crown hair by Truth, which you've hopefully already scoopied from the subscribo (1 of his prettiest gifts yet, which is really saying something, given how nice his previous Xmas gifts have been; plus you get so many hair colors); this dramatic butterfly makeup skin (such a find by Glam Affair) & these utterly fab jewels, new by Baiastice -- all of which I deeply appreciate as total high-impact "statement" items, which for me, are exactly the kind of pieces that make styling perennially fun.

City Chrome.

Winter chills mean that it's finally hat, scarf + double-breasted wool coat weather.

And since I own over a dozen hats in RL (that I can now gleefully begin trucking out again for fall/winter), this happily reminded me that there's nothing like a close-rimmed hat to highlight the eyes. This latest "Juniper" hat hair by Truth (luhs the vintage bell-shaped dome + wide side bow accent) helped show off these brand-new "Perspective" eyes by Ikon, which are richly packed with realistic multi-toned hues, and bursting with not-too-shiny life. I also love that the pupil hides something that I admittedly might have possibly imagined: a tiny scene of reflected tree + horizoned sunlight, which you can only see if you look really closely. (Or maybe I just had too much coffee as I was editing this, hehe).

If you still haven't picked up this week's lusciously long, ridic smex "Tahnee" bedroom hair by Truth, well, I guess I've failed to impart any meaningful advice of a SLexy nature. Heh.
I'm showing the "Tahnee 2" bangs version above; the blonde hair below is the other new Truth style this week, the tres glam mesh "Felecia" updo, featuring a beautifully knotted piece that trails delicately down the back.
These new pants by The Plastik are also mesh, showcasing creator Aikea Rieko's usual meticulous texturing work; I'm diggin' these scrumptiously teeny tiny stripes on the "Jester" pattern here, which I paired with rich coral hues (shoes, belt, bag & top) + a free smart tablet by Kal Rau (speaking of digi-gear, anyone into cyber styles should also check out the "Pattern 2" pack of these mesh pants for some absolutely killer bias-cut slits on the upper thighs).

Ready . . . Set . . . Cute!

As promised, I wanted to show you the newest "Chloe" face by Esuga, featuring superpouty lips, a soft, supergirlie expression + the unique blend of smexeh kawaii that creator Eilfie Sugarplum has become known for. This week's new "Charmaine" bobbypins hair by Truth added perfectly mussed tresses to this winter-ready face.
I couldn't decide which I liked better, the fair or dark tones; either way, this skin's glowy complexion lends a lush, dewy feel, and the detail-ist in moi so appreciates the barely-parted lips option too (I think this wolf was trying to copy my pose here, heh).
Like a big chicken, I've been largely avoiding mesh stuff due to a li'l prob called Still Absolutely Loathing All the Mesh Viewers; still, I forced myself to get over it for this newest free pink uniform by Node, which I cute'd up with some free reindeer ears, a free curious pink cat + these $1L kneepatch leggings.

Shiny New Things

Fall season is officially here, along with everybody's new collections, and it's such a joy to see so much creativity just bursting all over the grid.
I'm showing just a few of my fave recent things here: I'll quickly mention the 2 must-grab skins by Illusory + Tres Blah at the new installment of Collabor88 (the softly-lit, subtly luminous Illusory skins have truly emerged as some of the most refined skins around; these also work so beautifully with other makeups, as shown here); the shortie hairs recently released by Tram (tons of styles to choose from; plus don't miss the 2 free hair gifts up on the upstairs floor); this gorges tunic dress + ridic yumz "wrap" textured belt by Fishy Strawberry that's already plowed the feeds (an absolute must-wear with cowboy boots!) + finally for this non-fancy girl, a Hollywould floor-length gown in a sparkling emerald gem tone (a special color available for September) that my friend Cajsa Lilliehook so kindly dropped on me, from the newly reopened Azul store.

More to Help Japan

Another shopping event is underway to aid the tragic events in Japan, this time featuring many Asian creators and donations going 100% to the Japanese Red Cross Society. On a purely selfish note, it's also your chance to grab these gorges wine-colored Kookie boots on sale (normally $500L, reduced down to $380L); the long row of eye-popping detailed "eyelets" on these boots is simply the yums.
R2 creator Rei2 Aya is also offering an exclusive white & gold version of her popular "Pumehana" boot for this event, which I paired with a free sherbety cardi for my comfy airport stroll today. A $75L lemon-lime bag by Addict provided ample room for all my fashionista travel reading.

Winter White Party

The Skin Fair 2011 kicked off today + amongst the gifties/cheapies for the grabbing, I especially liked these $20L eyeliner makeups by Mynerva (you get several in the pack).
