I wanted to tell all our dear readers that 1 of our SLexy blogger family members, Mpenziwe Jansma, has a stunning new travel blog with some of the finest SL landscapes photography that you will see anywhere. Styling Studies.

Don'tcha just love it when SL iconic creators relaunch their store in the name of bigger + better things? Fishy Strawberry creator Fae Eriksen has done just that (hence her crazy sale at the end of last year), and as per usual, Fae's new 2014 mesh releases are impeccably detailed + are such a creative fusion of both the girlie + the smex. I always appreciate that the Fishy Strawberry looks are extremely versatile: you can mix 'n match the different pieces so easily, which as fashionistas know, is tres important when trying to find that perfect piece to finish a look. For me, this means that Fae's designs are always a smart buy.

Btw I would be amiss if I didn't mention this free braided crown hair by Truth, which you've hopefully already scoopied from the subscribo (1 of his prettiest gifts yet, which is really saying something, given how nice his previous Xmas gifts have been; plus you get so many hair colors); this dramatic butterfly makeup skin (such a find by Glam Affair) & these utterly fab jewels, new by Baiastice -- all of which I deeply appreciate as total high-impact "statement" items, which for me, are exactly the kind of pieces that make styling perennially fun.

A Li'l Surrealism Helps to Keep Us Sane.

Did you know that if you announce loudly that you have both milk + carrots lying around, every kitty + bunnie in the region will come a-hootin' + a-hollerin'? Well, neither did I.

These furry friends are new by Ohmai + come accompanied by mochi ice creams + other yummie things; the lovely shading, exquisite contouring + organically plump shaping are creator Anya Ohmai's signature (her lush work is a big reason why the build at The Arcade is so striking as well).  It's tres exciting that these cute critters (+ the animated koi fish purse I'm showing above!) are available at the 5th installment of Designers United, an event which drummed up a huge amount of buzz during its last tenure on the grid years ago, known for its off-the-beaten-path event themes + also for getting some of SL's most celebrated creators to simply run with it. The items at this newest "Surrealism" round are bold, edged with fantasy + even just a hint of darkness; you can get a good feel by checking out the official Flickr group here (I love that you can find established fashion designers like Onyx LeShelle of Maitreya making eerie, skeleton bird strap-on stilts + even a ghostly head cap for this event).


Btw in case you haven't visited Truth recently, you need to know that all of his new hairs are now  controlled via a simple HUD; meaning, zero inventory clutter (O YEAH!) + a luxurious 1-click ease of color change (+ he's even re-incorporated some of my old personal color faves, like Espresso + Swedish, back into the mix). -- I also had to show you a side view of this week's new + impeccably detailed "Anessa" style -- check out the soft mini-bun gathered softly at the nape of the neck, and the little pieces falling just below it; the uber-feminine double-leaves headband make this an utterly smex 'do. I've only said this about a bazillion times, but the texturing on Truth hair is 1 of the most polished things you can get your avi into on the grid. -- How do I know? 'Cuz Photoshop's lighting effects do not lie.

Meanwhile, as we move more staunchly into Fall's chilly climes, there's always ample time in SL to dream of Springtime, short dresses + plastic-heeled leather platform booties. Oh, and free strawberry tartlets, too.

It's a rare thing to see fashion events -- or truly, any event -- rally around art for Art's sake; besides which, the push for Art (whatever that means, to each of us) is something too often neglected, 'specially for us busy working folks; even the concept of pursuing something artistic often becomes something too nebulous or impractical to truly embrace. It's easy, then, to come to Designers United to check out how innovative ideas can co-mingle seamlessly with fashion and home; perhaps you'll experience a Rene Magritte moment of your own. (I feel compelled to add that a li'l Surrealism is just part of the everyday here in NYC, since RL is definitely stranger -- and infinitely less predictable -- than fiction).

Coiffed @ Hair Fair 2013 (Part 4): Banded & Ponied.

Ploom is offering 1 of the prettiest multi-banded ponytail styles of Hair Fair 2013, showcasing creator Helyanwe Vindaloo's signature love of sectioning hair into a falling cascade of individually pouffed-out pieces. I thought this uber-girlie style was tres perfect for showing another look at the newest skin by tsg (another specialist in all things girlie), as well as this new studded retake of the much-beloved "Papi" jumpsuit by Ricielli. Take a look.
Aren't these free accessories fun? The green retro radio is actually a purse; this + the anime-like floral hairpin (+ ribbon), pink floral nails, popsicle + watermelon glasses are all yours for the price of $0L (see the Styling Credits below for more info). Essences creator Inka Mexicola has 3 new skin tones out at TDR Fusion that offer 3 vibrant eye makeups with her trademark intelligentsia face, which I found particularly compelling in the brunette version, framed by these unapologetically dark brows. Some tangly, octopus-like gemstone earring clips by Donna Flora, a new sable-hued shortie hair by Tram + the luminous, oceanic "Skyfall" hued eyes by Ikon framed this gamine face.
Don't ya just love it when your li'l winged friends bring you gemstones? Today was emeralds (how'd he know this was perfect for today's look)? Hehe.
And since I'm still decorating our home, here's some quick shots of some new free gifties that I couldn't resist placing here + there: a prettily tattered wooden post mailbox by HPMD (sadly, no mail yet tho'!) + this lovely orange jelly + mint water set, courtesy of Add9 (awwws the li'l spoon)!
