On The Bandwagon

Goddessing

Sometimes 2 totally unrelated new releases will come together in a most au naturel way, which is exactly what happened with the new lush, flowey hairs by Truth + the newly debuted "drape" dresses by Zenith. -- Hellooo goddessing mood. *double mwuahs Truth Hawks + Miffyhoi Rosca*
I adore half-up, half-down styles (you get to show off your jewels and smex it up a bit) + this coy new "Bree" over-the-shoulder, low ponys style results in a tres flirtatious look. -- You can easily see why the draping is exceptional on this "Athena" garment; you even get a full set of shell jewelry included (bracelets, necklace +this conch shell headband!), which makes accessorizing a snap.
This bouncy "Lacey" headband hair is a way smex take on the traditional headband style; perhaps it's the way these longer front hair pieces drape suggestively over the bodice. -- Speaking of draping, these sideswept folds on this new "Leona" dress beautifully suggest sensual movement; a particularly pronounced effect in rich, deeper colors like this va-va-va-voom cherry red.

I couldn't resist showing you this luscious "Mulberry" lip stain + frosted pink "Tutu" eyeshadow makeup from the new Pink Fuel "Elly" face. -- Aren't these glossy colorstained lips simply divine? Yums.
I was inspired to go fairy today in honor of the True Blood premiere (Sookie + Eric, ZOMGGG), so easy with recent gifts: this grape ruffle dress, purple rosebud arm vines, flowerbud earrings (w/ tiny butterflies!), glowy necklace, wings + roses head wreath were all free; the sandals are the new Maitreya flip-flops that I just can't take off + the new Pink Fuel "Elly" supplied the wide-eyed innocence so perfect for going fae.

Today we break from our usual fashionista biznatches to show you something a li'l different: this crazy tricked-out motorcycle that BB & Motorcycles creator Boiboi Saenz sent my way. Not that I'm a tomboy mechanic kinda girl, but I can most def appreciate a fine piece of machinery. *mwuahs Boiboi Saenz*

Watercolor

The free fur purse + free fur jacket gifts at Wave inspired this modern-day vintage styling, which to me recalled a muted watercolor painting with just a few splashes of color. A free "Something Old" necklace by Ganked added a chunky silver touch; a free tie-dyed tank by Fashionably Dead kept this look from being too pretty.
Fur purses are so great for those quasi-dramatic, casual toss of the head poses. The trick is tilting the hair just-so. See how this look says "Don't mind me, I just paid $3000 for this purse?" Totally.

Most of us have already scooped all the goodies at Modavia by this point, but here's a quick look I threw together using the free pretty Lelutka @ Modavia skin.
The rest of this look are some recent gift finds: a free bohemian top by Pop Feel; a free denim floofy skirt (yeah, it's a li'l '90s, but as Dream and I were just saying, retro vibes in fashion just wont go away) + some nicely detailed free white lace leggings, both by *mocchi*mochi*; a mussed $1L shortie hair by Hair Oh @ Hair Fair 2010; and what inspired this look, a free feather headpiece + upper arm bracelets by Primalot.

In other news: check out this giant floating double-decker ice cream cookie "seat." With giant orange kitty. With whipped cream on his head. For $10L. 'Nuff said.
Now a personal note by me: today is September 11, which for those of us NYCers who distinctly remember it as a weekday, feels a little strange to fall on the weekend. People who live here think about that fateful day every day (not just today) so I'm choosing to commemorate today not with any special T-shirt (although I'm not downplaying those; these are beautiful gestures too), but rather with the same attitude I feel every time I look at the vast expanse of sky that used to be the Twin Towers: that I'm grateful for the chance to live. That all those people are just gone. That I truly can't imagine what it must have felt like to be in those buildings or on those planes or rescuing those people (even tho' I've thought about it countless times). That I can't believe that health care for the first responders has been quietly and silently denied. That despite the bitter battle of what should be built down there now (i.e. on extremely valuable Manhattan real estate), to me, that site will always be an enormous graveyard.

That being said, SL is important, and especially today: for me, SL fires the imagination and stirs my own creativity, even if its vehicle is thru mere digital pixels. I celebrate the golden joy of the everyday by posting just another look today.

Adventures of the Junior Meat Mafia, Vol. 1: Hooch Quest

Sometimes you just need a break from the whole craziness of SL fashion. Which is why me + my buddies Dorothy Button and Gavin McGinnis decided to form a new crew: the Junior Meat Mafia. Our quest: to seek out all things meat. But hey, we're inclusive. We also look for all yummeh stuff to wash it all down with.

Having heard rumors of a moonshine distillery in SL, of course we Junior Meat Mafia members just had to investigate. Look at these enormous orange vats we found tucked away on a horse farm (see them behind me?) Sneaky!
Taste testing is tres important. I snuck my own jug o' hooch faster than you can say Johnny Walker. *Giggles + gulps it down* Heeey. I feel fiiine.
Dorothy was busy scanning the area for hidden moonshine vats. See how she makes the country Western thing look supaglam?
Usually I'd say that Dorothy is one of the most normal people I know. But after knocking back some o' that moonshine, an intense, crazy competitive streak began to reveal itself."Looky here Junior Meat Mafia peoples, I discovered this here moonshine. It's all mine. I'm saying, this town ain't big enough for the three of us." (Notice Gavin guzzling his moonshine quietly in the background during this time). This was also when I began to wonder whether our trip to the gun factory right before was quite as brilliant as I had originally thought.What was that? Did you guys hear a cop car?
There's nothing like the threat of external authority to make everybody friends again. OK Junior Meat Mafia internal conflicts resolved! We scooted outta there pretty quick.

That moonshine must've really done a number on us, 'cuz suddenly we felt an overwhelming urge to dance with the cows. (We are the Junior Meat Mafia! Must spend quality time with our food source). -- Turns out that the only dance the cows knew was the Hokey Pokey, so we humans followed along as best we could. We weren't great at it, but we knew the cows had to respect us anyway 'cuz we had our guns + stuff.

"You put your right foot in, you put your right foot out . . ."
"You put your right foot in and you shake it all about . . ."
"You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around . . ."
"That's what it's all about."
The country Western thing was growing on us, so we donned our favorite antlers for some pose striking, Western-style. (We Junior Meat Mafia members like to envision ourselves as meat whenever possible. It's kinda our thing).
Something about the brown horns + wooly red hat made these free antlers totally go with Dorothy's plaid outfit.
You wouldn't know it, but the cacti (that's plural for cactus, for all you non-Western-hailing folk) seemed to enjoy having us around. We think Gavin was their fave. (He braved their needles + stood the closest to them).
Gavin and I's antlers came from Callie Cline + they were just lovely. You could almost hear the tinkling of these pretty little ornaments hanging so daintily from them. Gavin's had tiny miniature stockings + candy canes draped over the horns. I adored mine too. Who can resist antlers with pink ornaments?
All of us totally loved these free reindeer slippers (which come with their own decorated mini-antlers) from Rebel Hope Designs. Aren't they just darling? Li'l furry white "cotton ball" tails for your feets! *faints, dies*
It was time to scare up some 'cue (the saucy ribs kind, with sides), so we Junior Meat Mafia members headed in search of some grub.
