In Winter, one's thoughts turn to Santa and . . . those yummie holiday noms.
As per usual with this event, The Arcade has turned out some top-quality tasty finds: amongst my personal faves are this scrumptious fruit and cheese plate (complete with li'l tartines) by Tres Blah; and this personal hot chocolate machine by What Next is a must whilst waiting for Santa. Some snowy friends came to visit my midnight munchies table here, including this pretty pair of kissing owls + also this lovely otter-like creature by Half-Deer (don't worry, I made the otter wash his feets first before stomping all over the cheese, hehe).

Look what I found just waiting for a warm fuzzy cuddle at the new December round of The Arcade.

Postcards from Grid: Dreaming of The Far Away.

And for your viewing pleasure today, a few snapshots from some recent art installations and other builds from around the grid. This first skeletal yet graceful leafy man sculpture by SL builder Nessuno Myoo is whimsically entitled "In The Game Of Life We Are As Leaves In The Wind," which I first spied on this SL exploration blog here (+ was itching to get a closer look).

I quite enjoyed the way one enters this part of the LEA20 SIM (where this installation is located): you TP here onto a boat landing huddled with skeletal ghosties, all waiting to board small rafts (which you can do as well by clicking "Sit"); but to see the leafy man sculpture, click on the little brown box instead (tucked discreetly to one side of the platform, with the small red hand above it) + select "TRIM" (short for Temporary Rez Inventory Mess, a curated collection by Eupalinos Ugajin). You'll land amidst a scattering of buildings and structures; zoom around a little until you see the leafy man, near a giant fan (you'll see plenty of other visually striking displays all around).

This little home was secretly hiding nearby, tucked into a giant floating Cubism-inspired wooden floating structure; I found it both daring yet carefree that the greeting sign simply says "Memory."
And in non-art installation news, I always love to drift into the BCC store build, where creator Vitamingirl has assembled a serene, dreamy landscape, chock-full of the kind of quiet, wistful tableaus pulled straight out of a Miyazaki film. Just check out this seabound traincar, suspended over rails that lead to nothing but a half-buried wooden sign; I half-expected phantom ghosties to demand a ticket to board.
As someone who rarely leaves her photo platform, it's pleasantly revitalizing to do some grid-hopping, if only to take a moment to gaze at the wondrous things that SL builders and creators have so carefully assembled for our visual enjoyment. Plus who knows? You might even pick up some fresh inspiration for your own (RL or SL) creations along the way.

Primary colors are such a sprightly way to cheer up winter.
This one's for the frugalistas, since nearly everything (except this poufy crown, color-change headband "Cece" pony hair by Truth + ice blue Ikon eyes) are gifties. The Sheep Door lucky board yielded this free Crayola-hued coat, shirt + tie set; I couldn't decide which free bag worked best, so I'm showing you 2 new ones that I scoopied this week, including this white-trimmed, white-puppied red leather bowling bag on Marketplace. The whimsical reverse cow-udder hat, rhinestone cross-studded platform boots + electric blue nails will set you back all of $0L; and this ruby-lipped skin is the latest Belleza (paid group) gift, lending an innocent, fresh-faced beauty to your (hopefully naughty) holidays.
Ice cream floats + a paper snail? As if Add9 creator Canue Glazner could conjure any more useless, uber-cute stuff that we (of course) must have! Free as well, at the crammed with tchotchkes, photog-worthy Cafe Cherbourg.
The holidays always seem to tickle the couples posefest bone in so many posemakers, and this particularly awwws! one hails from Izzie's. -- As you can see, Gavin was clearly trying to hog more than his fair share of the candy cane here. Typical!

A Rainbow Vintage.

1 of my Flickr photog buddies Kallisto Destiny, whose fashion imagery always adds a touch of dreamy moods, is debuting her new Drift brand at Vintage Fair 2012. I styled her new rainbow-dipped, bokeh-like print dress to channel colorful '80s-retro style by adding this week's new fuscia-bowtied "Liberty" pony updo by Truth; shiny metallic gold leggings + some fun grabs at recent Japanese festivals added extra playfulness, like this free giant tub of gummy worms (on a rainbow link chain!) + a pink lemonade bottle necklace (complete w/ a candy-striped straw). This curious baby panda bear was only $30L at d-lab's newest panda gatcha (I named him Oreo); Oreo was very curious about Gavin, although he decided in the end that he didn't really trust boys. -- I did catch Oreo sneaking glances at G's li'l friend tho. Hehe.
Aren't Japanese packaged snacks are the best? I love trying all the yummy salty flavors like seaweed and shrimp (although I think Oreo blabbed to a few too many of his li'l friends that we had treats).
