Snow in city life can bring certain unwelcome surprises like frozen rats in the snow (I wish I was kidding). It's much prettier in SL, where beautiful winter coatdresses, pretty new hairs + warm fuzzy scarves await, all yours for the taking at Collabor88. And in other news, it's never too late to start campaigning to get on Santa's good side. -- I mean, even the Great Bearded One might be persuaded by how "Nice" I've been this year, with this supercute reindeer tote! Santa's a fashionista, right? Here's hoping you have some sleek winter whites to chic up your holiday wardrobe. Winter white love + fashionista kisses to all!
Amidst utterly drowning in RL (launching a new RL jewelry brand, y'all!), I had to pop in to show you some of this month's must-haves from The Arcade and Collabor88, both of which are bursting at the seams with brand-new yummies. -- And Maitreya at C88? O yes fashionistas, you'll not want to miss creator Onyx LeShelle's rare appearance at this event -- and make sure to grab her strikingly new mod-styled, geometric-paneled leggings as well, which I thought paired swimmingly with this new tri-paneled, hearts-printed skirt + sweater set by Teefy + the latest jangly golden hearts jewelry by Maxi Gossamer. -- Btw this dreamy, utterly ingenue skin (swept with a hint o' glam -- check out this under-the-eye-rimmed, metallic bronze eyeshadow -- so so runway!) + beautifully severe, straight-across bangs hair by Baiastice (along with this meticulously detailed, wooden-paneled, golden winged angel figurine, which decided to grace my shoulder today) -- are all gatcha prizes that you can claim at The Arcade + are such finds for their megawatt couture power.
And in other news, I gotta give a huge *mwuahs* to mah girl Inka Mexicola, who recently decided to honor this photo here by placing it in her Essences store (and who always has very kind words to say about my photography). Thank you Inka, for your generosity and always-cheerful spirit! Love you mucho, chica.
Can everyone believe that the holidays are nearly upon us? Where the hellz did this year go? Holiday madness is upon us, but good. *Wooh-sah*, mellow yellow + namaste, bitches. (that's for you, Eden)
And now a break from Shoetopia 2013 coverage to show you a few cheerful things that have been keeping me warm during these chilly days: this off-the-shoulder, buttery yellow sweater by DRIFT; a golden triple-chain necklace (that I'm wearing here as a headband) by Boom, and some free caramel java to hep keep warm. -- Plus aren't these free tights a find? I luhs this modern geometric cutout pattern, which worked so nicely as a stylistic foil against these Victorian lace-up boots by Beetlebones (you'll find these at Collabor88; even amidst all your shoe choices this month, these meticulously-textured boots are a true gem -- 'specially if you're a tall, lace-up boots kinda girl like moi).
And here's a better look at this youthful "Elvi" skin by Glam Affair, which is totes the epitome of "fresh-faced" (plus the subtly glossy, utterly pouty lipsticks on this particular skin are just gorge).
Some free cinnabon earrings, a sprinkling o' frex + some shiny, clear eyes (these, of course, are by Ikon) and I look just as innocent as can be. Hehe.
Every time the cold rolls around, I start fantasizing about life in Hawaii. Cheerful chilly love + fashionista kisses to all!
And in an exciting addition to Shoetopia 2013, the iconic Glam Affair brand is debuting its gorges new "Vanity Feet," featuring naughty satin ribbons criss-crossed around these beautifully arched feet (reminiscent of a gentle en pointe ballerina stance). As an extra bonus, these feets are a snap to match with any Glam Affair skin; an easy-peasy HUD controller offers several pretty color choices for the satin ribbons, nails + skin tones, plus you get the exquisitely subtle foot shading (even on the undersides, which I wanted to show you here; I so love these lovely soft heels!) that's only available from this veteran skin brand. Take a look.
Hope everyone's enjoying the extreme bounty of all the shoe goodies at Shoetopia 2013! Shoe heaven love + fashionista kisses to all!
And the wait is over: Shoetopia 2013 has officially opened its doors, and now everyone can go, pamper their pedis + support Soles4Souls. I'm showing you a few more of my personal faves debuting at the event: from a whimsical Murakami print pump by SYS to some scrumptiously raspberry-hued zip-up ankle boots by Baiastice (check the disco-ready gold pyramid-textured heels!) + these supercozy winter boots by Apple Fall, featuring a triplet of chunky, threaded wooden buttons. Take a look.
This is truly 1 of the most special shopping events of the year, so make sure you don't miss it (fair warning: it only runs for 2 weeks). You can read more details on the official blog here; and remember to keep checking the official Flickr here for more style peeks from this event.
Not many brands can take credit for single-handedly changing the way we ladies wear shoes in SL via 1 sole product, but Slink creator Siddean Munro's mesh feet have done just that -- inspiring oodles of A+ designers to create add-ons for her beautiful mesh footsies. Siddean is debuting yet another coveted body part in her mesh feet collection at Shoetopia 2013: her brand-new, uber-smexeh "High Feet," featuring sky-high arches for us stiletto-ready femininistas. These new feets work together with her brand-new shoe designs that Siddean is also debuting at the fair: sleek, sophisticated + with just a touch of glossy shine, these styles add instant uptown chic to any look (plus as always, Siddean is known for her impeccable foot + shoe shaping work). Take a look.
League creator Nena Janus is debuting some supercute things for Shoetopia 2013, including these brand-new fur-trimmed, drawstring leather snowboots (the fur trim + leather boot colors are all HUD-changeable, plus you get a zillion colors to choose from), in addition to some beautifully retro T-strap platforms with a thick, stacked wooden heel + your choice of buckle colors (isn't this muted turquoise color sooo exquisite)? As always, you'll find meticulous detailing, shadowing + scrumptious texturing on these League releases, making Nena's designs visibly stand out with that li'l somethin' extra (i.e., refined polish). Take a look.
Get those feets ready -- there's sooo many ways to get your pedis pretty at Shoetopia 2013!And remember, this event benefits Soles4Souls, which I must again say feels so on-point given the excruciating horror of what is happening right now in the Philippines. Please go, shop + support this charitable shopping event. You'll see exclusive designs to the event in every booth; even some gatcha machines are giving donations, plus there are donations all over the event if you just want to give something.
You can always tell which booth draws oodles of interest when there's a crowd even at the blogger preview. The Boom booth at Shoetopia 2013 was jam-packed with folks, and for good reason: creator Aranel Ah's satin bowtied, utterly girlie "Olycena" platform heels -- made to work with the SLINK natural feet -- are 1 of the cutest designs I've spied yet at Shoetopia 2013. Sweet yet sassy with a demure rounded foot shape + wickedly stacked platform heel, they're resizeable (always a good thing) + the bow sections are color change (via HUD), meaning they pretty much go with everything (or nothing). Take a look. Sooo excited to see all the smexeh new designs at Shoetopia 2013! Are you ready to pamper your feets?Remember to check the official Flickr here for a sneak peek of all the goodies that await you when the event kicks off in just a few days on November 15th.
Anybody who's got a fashionista bone in their body will be heading to 1 of this year's most anticipated shopping SL events, Shoetopia 2013, which kicks off in just a few days on November 15th. Until then, I had to show you a sneak peek of the utterly delectable build, which allows you to stroll thru the ethereal theme of "Heaven" to shop for your avi's feets, and which I also must add, absolutely nailed it as far as evoking an Pearly Gates ambiance -- complete with white marble textures, gently rolling clouds + oodles of ornate architectural details (i.e., soaring archways, bridged walkways & cascading balustrades). Take a look. Huge kudos to event organizers Sophia Harlow + Anessa Stine for pulling out all the stops on such a worthy event; it's also worth noting that the event charity they've chosen to support is Soles4Souls, which feels deeply poignant given the utter devastation + horrific aftermath of the recent disasters in the Philippines. All the more reason to feel good about supporting this event; you can read more about event details on the official blog here; + you can keep checking for sneak peeks of the event items on the official Flickr here. Shoe heaven love + fashionista kisses to all!
Now here's the annoying thing about supercute li'l squirrel aviators: they just luhs to brag about their uber-cool, miniature flying spaceships, that no one else (non-squirrel, I mean) can ever see. -- Take my good friend Charlie here: today he was boasting all over the place that he owns not just one of these super special spaceships, but three. Now that's just mean.
This newest round of Collabor88 has the notably whimsical theme of Steampunk, and the A+ creator lineup has interpreted this to mean many versatile stylings (not just necessarily futuristic Victorian). I particularly loved these this retro cutout minidress (which could easily pass as Old Hollywood glam as well), and don't even get me started about these utterly fab doorbells by Intrigue Co.: I just had to incorporate 1 of these into my look today in some way. -- And 'cuz life is just better with freebies, both my striped 'n bowtied nails + this whimsically antler'ed gaslamp are completely free, courtesy of a new hunt that you can read about here.
Speaking of Steampunk, has everyone read The Infernal Devices? It's better-written-than-usual bubblegum tween lit that I devoured this summer, then forgot about, and then re-discovered on my phone last week that totes got me into the Steampunk mood. -- Too bad this author's other movie rather bombed at the box office, but these prequels are so much better than that one, anyway. Now you have your next bathroom reading!
Steampunk'ed & squirrel'd love + fashionista kisses to all!
The city is a song, Skyscraper tips climbing to crescendo highs, A forte horn's blare, a manhole's hiss, that stranger's appraising stare All help shape the noisy symphonic form Gliding con moto through polluted air.
The city is a song Ripe with dulce tones: like A friend's sweet alacrity and unwavering support, Sounding clear and true. Fresh like yesterday Even though long gone, A gentle heartbeat that pulses and thrums Fading slowly amidst ever-towering walls of concrete.
The city is a whispered song, pianissimo lures, trailing off Daring, winking, inexorably beckoning At slow andante paces. Promises of greatness tucked quietly into loaded moments That haven't even happened yet. A few spectacular seconds of courage Curled tightly, into new smuggled spots, waiting To be unfurled once more By a city that you thought you already knew.
Within the city's prickly confines A melody soars, clear and bright Molto rubato, at a rhythmic pace For you to keep up. For you to feed your heart, For you to splinter your heart. And curiously, for you to always dream again For as long as your insides, now made into rough steely wool, can hold out. For this is a dreamer's city: tattered and abrasive, yet fiercely celebrated as A city of most uncanny melodies. Broken, whole, coursing so strong An anthem forged together from this city's many harmonies Of countless songs.
