Key ingredients for a successful tree trimming party:

1. A tree (duh);

2. Ornaments (double duh);

3. Someone tall enough to reach the highest branches (good for lights);

4. Little ones to show off + hang ornaments on the trickiest branches (good for awwws); 

5. Someone wearing a holiday-themed outfit (good for making fun); 

6. Something to get your guests nice + tipsy (for bunnehs, that's either iced carrot juice or hot milk; either one has the same effect); 

. . . + finally (perhaps most importantly)

7. A "no tinkling" rule near the tree (or else risk the dreaded yellow snow making an unwelcome appearance at your party).

In Winter, one's thoughts turn to Santa and . . . those yummie holiday noms.
As per usual with this event, The Arcade has turned out some top-quality tasty finds: amongst my personal faves are this scrumptious fruit and cheese plate (complete with li'l tartines) by Tres Blah; and this personal hot chocolate machine by What Next is a must whilst waiting for Santa. Some snowy friends came to visit my midnight munchies table here, including this pretty pair of kissing owls + also this lovely otter-like creature by Half-Deer (don't worry, I made the otter wash his feets first before stomping all over the cheese, hehe).

Creator Apple Fall is debuting some lovely new "modern rustic" furnishings to go with the patriotic tides of high summer, including some American flag-printed items, hanging thumbtacked hearts and aged wood bookcases and book-filled side consoles. I also love Apple's latest sea cottage-themed pieces like this shiny steel-capped, glass-enclosed starfish lantern, complete with resting metal handle (how pretty would this look perched atop any desk or kitchen table)? I also couldn't resist showing you this new whimsical chicken (!) by Le Poppycock (this feathery bird is actually part of a recent pose set, but it's so prettily done that it easily works as a standalone home decor item). A furry dozing kitty (recently free, not sure if it still is) plus other pretty trinkets -- I'm particularly enamored of this framed wolf sketch, and the mini-stack of books with the coral sitting daintily on top -- satisfied my tchotchke cravings for today. -- Ahhh, the genuine countryside! Someday this city girl will get to see you in person, hehe.

Squeaky Clean.

The Arcade has finally opened its doors, and the gatcha bounty this round is simply filled to bursting in terms of must-haves. The theme for this round is summery, beachy items; and in keeping with previous Arcades, this event has become 1 of the definitive events for impeccably executed home decor items. I'm showing 2 versions of the new animated bathtubs by Pilot (complete with extra suds that you can place on your body or around the tub); and I just couldn't resist surrounding myself with a few other must-haves, like these spilled Xanax pills (!) from Commoner; this baby pink cappucino mug featuring an elegant satin ribbon + bear paws milk froth (!) by Theosophy; + some absolutely adorbs things by blogger Nati Williams' Imeka store, like these baby pink rosebuds in a vase + a pink glass candy jar. Take a look.
And in other news, my new rainbow-haired friend Melvin decided that he just couldn't wait a second longer to hop into the tub, so this is him getting silly with the suds. -- Listen, take it from somebody who knows: once the animal knows it's cute, that's the moment it's just become 100% the boss of you. Caveat emptor, peoples.

Native Spring.

Creator Aikea Rieko of The Plastik is debuting some beautiful strapless dresses for Spring, framing an hourglass figure with her trademark detailed prints and naughty corset-like ribbons, wrapped around the torso for a li'l extra feminine waist-cinching.
Aikea is more typically known for her combination of rich, dark palettes and fantasy touches; however as this image shows, Aikea proves just as agile at whipping up fresh, vibrant colors that are perfect for Springtime glam. I thought this dress worked so nicely with this new side braided, double-cord headband "Elyse" style by Truth; some triple-tone feathers earrings, a wrapped leather-corded gem necklace + some pastel-toned colorblocked bangles completed this new Native look.

Speaking of lipstick, have you seen the newest "Romy" skin by Glam Affair? Ohhh boy, it's a lush one -- the soft, demure skin texture itself is so exquisitely refined (try a demo; you'll see what I mean), plus I adore how it has a touch of that je ne sais quoi reservedness in this knowing face. This skin is also fully customizable in every possible respect (nose, lips, frex options, along with your choice of superchic brows). -- I mean, just look at these brows! Just wow.
So I think the lesson we've all learned here today is: fashion can be tres helpful as a cover for carrying one's handcuffed briefcase. -- Hey, it's only makeup in there! Really. Hehe.

Lunar Landing.

The beloved readers of this blog already know that I rarely do white hair, but hey, you gotta figure all that zero-gravity stuff is simply murder on one's natural organic hair color treatments. Hehe.
My lunar landing today was inspired by this month's "Supernova" theme at Collabor88: and what an intergalatic ensemble it is, from naughty space-age dresses (like this plastic-strapped one by Faenzo that I'm wearing here) to oversized gems + industrial metal tones in accessories. -- Plus again with the hair, this new "Tyr" style's pinup-girl flyaway extensions -- oh-so-gently curling about the face -- are so so smex, no? I thought color streaks were such a must with this style; luckily there's many pretty choices (along with roots options) in the Truth HUD. -- Btw these astro-piggies were such sweet moon buddies; they promised to catch me my very own star too, just as soon as my rocket went off.

Fall Forms.

More fall-friendly looks from Collabor88 and The Arcade for you today, decorated with li'l accessories like this gorges pocketwatch necklace (meticulously detailed + a mere $25L by Sleepy Eddy) and striped wooden heart long necklace, both of which went swimmingly with this new cape by Milk Motion + this wee li'l pup, festooned with ribbon, a cute outfit + even a doggie bone name tag. Hehe.
Quick notes on these hairs: the top one is the latest "Venus" style by Truth (tres elegant with its sideswept pieces + finer trailing hairs entwining so daintily together on the side), and the beret hair is from Clawtooth, which I loved with the eensy weensy bowtie at the end of the braid (although having lived in Paris for a spell, I feel compelled to note that no one in France actually wears berets except for old men playing boules in the park; still, that's no reason not to fully enjoy a Frenching kinda mood in SL).
And in other news, you know it's Fall when pumpkins + such start popping up on the grid. I doubled up this new wooden wheeled-scene by Pilot with this new scrumptious candy apples platter by Floorplan (luhs the retro scalloped edges on the cake tray!). The grilled cheese & tomato soup bed tray just felt seasonally appropro (i.e., warm + cuddly for Fall, etc.).

Floaties.

What happens when 2 girlfriends decide to ditch work & partake of some afternoon cocktails instead? Why, some unintentional disco naps, o' course.

With all the cute inflatables flooding the grid right now, I had to show you at least a few: these floating "stuffed" animals are Miamai's whimsical gatcha prizes at The Arcade (awwws the pink pawpads!) & you can find the inflatable furniture pieces shown below at Collabor88 by Pilot. -- Btw this was Dream + I opting for some nutritious snacks post-afternoon hangover, hehe.
And here's a better view of my casual ensemble today, which features SLexy's own Cate Ying's new label VinCue's offerings for Collabor88, i.e., happy prints + candy colors, a combo that's always of prime interest for moi. -- Plus how scrumptious is this hair by Truth? These soft waves draped delicately over the shoulder basically scream "wavy beach hair." Some wraparound shades, pink headphones + a music tat were all I needed to complete this no-fuss beachy look.
