The newest round of Collabor88 has the dewy-eyed theme of "Into The Light," which most of the creators have interpreted as soft, muted colors, modern draping and a touch of girlish whimsy.
Check out the meticulous details that creator Marie Lauridsen has packed into her modern 2-piece dress for Milk Motion: a petite, folded collar tucks like demure petals just above the collarbone; the bust area drapes flatteringly around the waist, anchored by bars of modern gold hardware; while an asymmetrical bias of the skirt adds just a touch of seductiveness to this clean, modern style. A new fresh-faced frex skin by Glam Affair, sideways-tilted bun & these bowtie Mary Janes finished this feminine, yet decidedly avant-garde, look.

Hollywould Dreams.

Ahhh Hollywood. Isn't it dreamy? Sometimes when I'm doing a li'l housework, I like to practice that seemingly lost art of not-really-shocked-yet-earnestly-modest acceptance speeches. Only I never get nervous, 'cuz its only my teeny tiny kittycat + wooden toy dog who hears them. -- Those guys are always such a great audience. Hehe.
You can scoopie all these cute housewares -- and this hi-wattage glamorous "Aria" skin by Glam Affair (try to score the handy pre-set makeup combos! I luhs this one with the deep pink eyeshadow, tres Hollywood) at the newest round of The Arcade, which I paired with this week's new "Lovers" headband hair by Truth (pink & orange is so New Hollywood, don'tcha think)? -- Now this is a very girlie girl thing to observe, but I must also add that the most flattering part about this 'do is the gently-swept puffy bangs + puffy high crown area, which offer precisely just the right amount of "poof" (the headband is optional on/off too). -- Now if only this perfect "poof" was as easy to achieve in RL (le sigh).

Don't you find that fast food has a certain... transporting quality? 'Specially fries. Mmmm fries.
As we've come to expect by now, The Arcade has become 1 of the grid's most reliable spots to grab the tastiest new SL foodie noms, like this scrumptious strawberry cake & whipped cream slice, piping hot tea + even some notably detailed flowers (the camera was 'cuz I couldn't resist a li'l selfie whilst munching). Plus everybody knows that breakfast in bed is tres Hollywood.

More fall-friendly looks from Collabor88 and The Arcade for you today, decorated with li'l accessories like this gorges pocketwatch necklace (meticulously detailed + a mere $25L by Sleepy Eddy) and striped wooden heart long necklace, both of which went swimmingly with this new cape by Milk Motion + this wee li'l pup, festooned with ribbon, a cute outfit + even a doggie bone name tag. Hehe.
Quick notes on these hairs: the top one is the latest "Venus" style by Truth (tres elegant with its sideswept pieces + finer trailing hairs entwining so daintily together on the side), and the beret hair is from Clawtooth, which I loved with the eensy weensy bowtie at the end of the braid (although having lived in Paris for a spell, I feel compelled to note that no one in France actually wears berets except for old men playing boules in the park; still, that's no reason not to fully enjoy a Frenching kinda mood in SL).
And in other news, you know it's Fall when pumpkins + such start popping up on the grid. I doubled up this new wooden wheeled-scene by Pilot with this new scrumptious candy apples platter by Floorplan (luhs the retro scalloped edges on the cake tray!). The grilled cheese & tomato soup bed tray just felt seasonally appropro (i.e., warm + cuddly for Fall, etc.).

It's not often that something truly great finds the endurance and ability to continue over time, so it's with great admiration and fondness that I encourage you to visit Collabor88's 2nd birthday celebration (which by this time has already well-traveled the blog rounds), with its current glamorous "Razzle Dazzle" theme (that many designers have interpreted in a Gatsby retro-styling vein) + over 72+ of SL's top designers participating in this newest round. -- I've long noted that some 1 of the most special things about this monthly "discount" event is the renewed creative fortitude that every designer brings to each round, every single time; which is, in itself, another rare thing (i.e., artistic pride in what you do) and just another reason why I love this event so hard.

Springtime Dreaming.

In March, we NYCers start to get officially grumpy about still having to deal with cold weather. Luckily, one can quickly remedy the chilly blues by dressing for Spring inworld.
This sophisticated, wavy shoulder-length "Teddy" 'do new by Truth paired so nicely with this knowing face, which is the newest "Zara" skin release by Glam Affair that's literally swarmed the grid in popularity. There's a certain je ne sais quoi in the expression, making me eager to try it in darker tones as well. Casual elegance is just so fitting for Spring, no?
And I had to show y'all a quickie hunt prize that I finally found with the help of a talented new huntress friend: these platform ankle boots by a brand that is new to me called Deer. The colors a bit primary (which I happen to love) + the mini-plates and gold rivets are tres military glam (the hunt prize comes with a HUD to switch up between colors; the purchasable version contains more options). This gift will set you back all of $5L, but fair warning: it's a bit challenging to find (check the Styling Credits below for deets).

Arcade Love.

It's no secret that SL has become inundated with events, which is why I was especially honored to blog The Arcade, the exceptional quarterly gatcha mania event that's very similar in "feel" to Collabor88 in that the participating creators vigorously flex their creative muscles for each unmistakeably innovative installment (vs recycling pre-existing creations for sale). The result is strikingly innovative, gotta-have-it items that means bye bye $L for us shopoholics. -- Since I was all busy getting the furball when The Arcade first debuted, I was suuuper excited to show you some of my faves from this 2nd round, together with the brand-new, beautifully glowy "Amberly" skin by Glam Affair (wet, berry-stained lips? Yes please!)
Deep meditations are such a calming way to start the day.
And in home furnishings news, this marvelously detailed nail polish stand (check out the 3 cotton ball holders on top!) by uber-innovative home design creator Kaz Nayar for Pilot could be the best use of 1 (!) prim count (and $10L) ever. Luhs!
I was so impressed with this meticulously built nail rack (for a hunt gift, no less!) that I also had to also show you Kaz's offering for The Arcade, which is this utterly enchanting, miniaturized model "winter town," complete with tiny frozen lake and bridge. -- Now this is the kind of thing that's just 100% pure creator love (I personally adore things like this with zero practical purpose, in any life). You gotta have respect for anyone who invests so much care into purely creative yummy stuff; check out the little snowdrifts on the trees, and teensy holiday lights, and you'll get a sense of the loving detail put into this whimsical item. -- Special *mwuahs* to Vixie Rayna for telling me that her RL family sets out something like this every year, hehe.
If you do manage to get into The Arcade amidst the opening crush this week, be sure to check out the wowsome build itself, with some impressive new props on display this time around (including a beautiful old-fashioned carousel, parked right in front).

I never get tired of playing with color, so when I got these candy-pink Hucci pumps for free in their subscribo, I remembered my striped socks by Tee*fy in the same hue . . . and added this 2-tone moss green, dark-trimmed long coat . . . and then this grape-colored, pleated-skirt dress . . . and a braided-strap gold & brown purse to bring it all together. The gently-mussed free Exile hair that plowed across the feeds a few weeks ago remains 1 of my faves; layered + cropped asymmetrically short, it's oozes slick 'tude, i.e., that li'l something extra for casual looks like this one.
Btw this floating star (+ star-printed corset, which you can sorta see buried in my décolletage here) were just $1L apiece at a mini-hunt at Whonose. -- All this star posing inspired Gavin + I to do some swinging (not from a star, but a dreamy swingset nonetheless); I just luhs this kind of mindless activity for some primo SL (+ RL) chillaxin'.

Hair & Makeup, Please

The 2 new Truth releases this week offer your choice of ultra-smex luscious long locks or supergirlie double pony updos. It's a bounty of hair richness; guess which one I just had to put on first.
I was feeling kinda athletic today, so I slipped into the new 2-tone tee by Boom, together with some free (subtle) cutout tights by Paper.Doll + this free pose basketball by Love Soul. -- Btw these fall corduroy shorts by Boom are so versatile; I've shown 'em longer before, but I like 'em shorter with over-the-knee tights like the ones I'm wearing today.
A quick word about the makeup in the 1st pic above: although this isn't the clearest shot of it (I'll try to show it again later), I'm kinda cwaaazzzie about these new "Latex Liners" by Cheap Makeup. These hi-shine eyelids remind me of that old runway trick of dabbing lip gloss above the eyes for a high-def shine; you get your choice of several bold colors too. -- Subtle? No. Haute? Yes.
