The Good Girl.

The newest round at Collabor88 explores the rich theme of "Nostalgia," which most of the C88 designers have seemed to interpret as classic, timeless pieces with just a hint of vintage, which seem to go with just about everything. Across all of the offerings, what struck me about this ensemble are the superluxe textures: soft, satiny sheens; lustrous oversized pearls; + sweetly-trimmed ribboned separates. I couldn't resist mixing these beautiful silks, satins & pearl textures together; the new "Ainsley" shoulder-length shag by Truth -- 1 of my current must-haves for its easy, facile cool -- offered a modern, mussed-up touch to these traditional good-girl styles. 

Don't you find that candy is an instant mood-lifter? (That is, unless you interact with it in this absolutely @#$! rip-your-hair-out way. Curse you superfun evil genius game!)

Btw these close-ups are 'cuz I am sooo utterly in luhs with this new Glam Affair skin (named after one of SL's most prolific bloggers). I found the entire makeup line so pretty and glamorous; normally, I would have gone my usual dark hair tones for this look, but I thought that this light blonde was such a pretty foil against these sumptuous eggplant hues.

Pale Lips Sink Ships.

Some looks for you today that I shot last weekend (due to @#$!% RL have not been able to post until today), showing some lovely things from the new Collabor88 + the One Voice shopping event. Amongst my faves: these black leather shorts (!) by Tokodoki, these fabby thick-striped (the fat stripes are key) new stilettos by N-Core; this gorges nude keyhole minidress by Kyoot (which I loved with this edgy feathered "ear cuff" by Magic Nook); a sweet red cherries drawstring dress (on pink, yay!) dressed up with layers of strung necklaces; plus check out this sweet floral print dress by Baiastice, which is so flirty + perfect for hot days. Ahhh, summer!
Btw all of these feature new-ish skins with pale lip tones, which I think is tres appropro for summer. I'm particularly liking this nude-lipped redo of the "Elena" Laq skin at One Voice, featuring lush, full lips + a wide-eyed innocence in the face.

Summer Dress-Up.

Summer tends to be when our styles relax a bit, which is why it's particularly fun that Tokidoki creator Maya Levane's newest releases remind us how to dress up summer a bit. Check out her lovely cream-colored blazer (featuring a subtle gold puzzle print), which I paired with her casual-yet-fancy cream "studded" loafers (so NYC Upper East Side!), together with this gorges kelly green mini by Whippet & Buck (yet another new Collabor88 gem). -- A softly tousled, shoulder-length hair (new by Truth this week), some long pearl drop earrings + a summer fruity purse helped pull it all together.

Cielo.

Now that my Mother's Day (RL) jewelry crush is largely over, I'm able to show you the new goodies at Collabor88 + a slew of gorges new hairs + jewels. -- Being such a sucker for ponys, I haven't been able to take off these upside-down flipped "Tisha" ones by Truth; plus check out this color-change "Harlow" briollette beads set by Donna Flora (so glad to see Squinternet Larnia creating new styles again). A new delicate blue lace sleeveless dress by Nylon Outfitters + some shiny gold peeptoes fit my casual girlie mood today.
A closer look at this opal-esque set in an bright indigo blue (shiny pretty things = ohhh ahhh); see the 1st pic above for the golden pearl color, which was 1 of the more delicate hues in the HUD.
This month's Collabor88 also features this highly whimsical "moving sky" jewelry by League (these tiny clouds actually move! + you get 6 different configurations in the pack), which I paired with new sideswept hair by Clawtooth + this girlie shortie jumper by Hucci (check out these scrumptiously textured ruffles fitting snugly against the bodice).
My friend Moca Loup has also released more of her cutie shortie hairs; I loved this flipped-ends feathered style, featuring a lustrous pearl gem nestled into the side part. Awwws!

La Nouvelle Vague.

The newest installment of Collabor88 celebrates a highly stylized, moody theme of "French New Wave" that's 'specially for all you cinefiles. Think retro-glam pieces like cuffed capris, oversized sunglasses & bold stripes, all hearkening back to the cinematic arthouse narratives of the 1950s & '60s (don't even think of another lipstick shade except deep red with these looks). As per always, everything is at the discount price of $88L or less. Take a look.
I'm also showing this week's lovely new "Hilary" mesh style by Truth, featuring long, flowing locks that are tres natural (+ so stylistically versatile; you could easily smex this up or go casual summery). A classic pearl necklace + dramatically long ciggie finished this nouvelle vague look.

Orange Ya Glad . . . It's Fashion for Life!

If you happened to hear event organizer, blogger + inworld group leader Harper Beresford last week on the radio, you would have heard her explain why she volunteers to organize the Fashion for Life cancer charity event every year: because without advances in medicine, all of which require money, people diagnosed with cancer today simply wouldn't have the same chance as they did even several years ago. As the official event blog reminds us, cancer touches all of our lives; it also happens to be a cause that lies particularly close to my own heart.
One of my favorite designers, Squinternet Larnia of Donna Flora, could not participate this year due to being ill herself; I'm choosing to wear her jewelry here in this post, and (as I'm sure she would do, too) I'm encouraging everyone -- even if they don't want to shop -- to visit Fashion for Life and donate something (even if it's just a few $L). Harper has painstakingly organized 1 of the most respected events on the grid, and you have more than a week to visit the 9 spectacular builds (all themed around totally different concepts, from a retro '50s-like "diner" build to my favorite, an Art Deco-styled open area with a giant moon looming in the background).

Hopefully you will never know the fear + devastation that cancer can wreak onto a human life, but if you do, with everyone's continued support for continued research and new breakthroughs, maybe it won't have to feel like a death sentence, after all.

Mint Julep.

It's so nice for frugalistas that we can now find some of the best things available anywhere at discount events. The $88L & under selection at Collabor88 is always something to look forward to; each month is styled around a "mood board" (much like how a RL fashion collection is also often conceptualized), which generates an ensemble of things that's truly unique to the rest of the grid. (I'm also personally tickled that the A+++ designer list reads like a mini-sampler of The Bookstore). This month's selection showcases fresh spring brights (including this vibrant mint green hue) + bold floral prints; i.e., the perfect way to stylistically welcome Spring.
I'm also showing you another color of this week's long, flowey "India" style by Truth, and 1 of my fave items from this month's round of Collabor88: this oversized amethyst "geode" mesh ring by Yummy. I was really feelin' a minty fresh hue, so I slipped on the "Bahama Green" colored eyes by Ikon for a li'l color pop (which contrasted nicely against a snowy-white hair color).
