Hair, De-Lushous Hair!

This year's upcoming Hair Fair 2011 benefits Wigs for Kids, and there's a Flickr contest happening before the fair kicks off (you still have time to enter!) I was motivated by the particularly rich theme this year ("Seasons"); this first shot was my image for "Winter," inspired by an image on cop show of a girl who was lying horizontally on the floor in a glassy-eyed state (actually in a drug overdose). -- I eventually ended up shooting this sideways to get my avi's hair to "fall" in this direction; an crystallized icy texture led me to "embed" this beautiful hair into a frozen lake.
I noticed many people chose Spring, and flowers are always a huge temptation to use ('specially for this girlie girl); still, I wanted to see if I could come up with a slightly different take than the usual body adornment. -- I also noticed that the rules said it was okay to feature multiple avis, which I thought was a really cool idea, but didn't see anyone else doing. This is what sprung to mind; click the image for the story I whipped up to explain the mouse (a last-minute unexpected addition, lol).
The leaves + stems here are far from perfect, but something I wanted to try after chatting with mah girl Anya Ohmai recently about learning Adobe Illustrator (she suggested that I become familiar with the dreaded pen tool in Photoshop first). -- Drawing these leaves + stems was actually my first use of the tool, but hey, a girl's gotta start somewhere. Heh.
This last image was the result of playing around with my new wave brushes. -- Oh and my longtime fantasy of striking up permanent residence on a clear blue beach like this. Ahhh.

Soft, Sweet and Slexy... Somnia

I saw this blogged by Keira on the CHIC style Guide blog and couldn't help myself to blog it as well.  I really love the way this top says, soft - sweet - sexy !

The Harlequin Cardis from Somnia (shown in pink) can be purchased as a fatpack and gives you a rainbow of colors to have fun with. The Basic Jeans (shown in Blue) are also available in many other colors. I'm glad I picked these up since I didn't have jeans in this shade yet !.. and seriously for 75L, I'll be back to pick up another one.. I'm eyeing the red ones actually.

Summer Showers

There's a rainy day courtyard mini-festival now at itutu, where you can grab some free hygrangeas in various colors. These were so deliciously poofy I just had to slip 'em on as a skirt; some free grape heels by R2 added paintbox color to this look. My new friend Yua Cale reminded me about the IS Design store, where I remembered these fine green rubber duckys from their $30L gatcha.
It's rare for me to find well-made clothes in rich, vibrant greens in RL, so I was excited for this kelly green wrinkled chiffon number by Acid & Mala. I'm also showing the new freaking adorables "Astrid" messy updo by Truth (another supergirlie style that begs for a fresh-faced skin) + a free umbrella stand gift by Y's House, featuring this crouched "mopping up" animation (I was slightly miffed here 'cuz wiping up Gavin's wet stains made me late for Dancing With the Stars -- again!) -- I'm sure he'll find a way to make it up to me. Hehe.

Dodgy Nights At the Voom

A brief respite from fashionista stylings today with snapshots from the grid, this time from the eye-popping build at the Voom Hotel.
Playing with Windlight settings + different cam angles are basically a photog's dream here; be sure to check out the skyways too, which offer a striking spatial architecture in their own right, with neon signs and enormous structures cutting light & form into space.

La Vie En Rose

Mah girl Moca Loup has released some new ruffle tanks for summer that are her usual tres girlie softness. I went for a rosy-hued look today, adding the rose & nude version of the new 2-tone ankle boots by Ricielli + a sky blue hatbox for color pop. -- Not sure why my avi looks a bit strange here; must've been all the prim foodz I gobbled on the Just Desserts hunt. Heh.
After Gavin + I headed to the Tea Soup closing sale (some of the coyest "girlie" poses on the grid; so sad this li'l store is closing!), we headed to the secluded beach at Tortola for some quiet wave watching. This pretty floral headpiece I'm wearing is newly free from a minihunt at Vita's Boudoir; a palm fronds skirt + tanktini are available too (if anyone finds the skirt, gimme a holla).

A li'l rawrrr for your humpday via this free cheetah-print ruffled minidress by Acid & Mala.
Animal print can be tricky to accessorize since it's already "loud"; I used some of the fantastically detailed gold & pearl headpieces + bangles that are new by Zaara for just a touch of warm metal with this minidress look (these pair really nicely with the "flatter" crown hairs by Maitreya). I excavated this dramatic multi-pearl "collar" from the ol' inventory (you've got it too by SLink, if you did the Platinum Hunt) + here's yet another color of the fabby new stiletto oxford ankle boots by Ricielli. Who can forget Carrie from Sex & The City in this black & white striped, giant floral top? I'm A Barbie Girl

Mah girl Leona Olivieri has rebranded her I Ce Coco store to Mamboo Chic + set out this pretty pink-lipped skin as a $10L gift.
I picked a blonde shade of this week's new "June" heavy bangs Truth style to go with this light tan Barbie-esque skin. A 1-shoulder ruffled top at CH1C, some $15L Ricielli orange-nude heels + this finely-pleated coral print skirt by Emery finished this look.
