Southwesternized.

Every girl knows that summer means maxi dress time; unfortunately, it can be like a fashionista "Where's Waldo" to find ones with unique or cute prints (trust me -- in any life). Which is why I so particularly loved this whimsical dog + lion stencil one that's new by Baiastice: not only is the print a fun mix of cute animal outlines, but this neutral taupe color makes it work so easily with any accessories.
I added more pretty things from The Arcade for a southwestern touch (check out the scrumptious leather textures of this backpack!) as well as a bit o' East Coast color in the form of this scrumptious orange & vanilla ice cream, i.e., what's gotta be the quintessential East Coast summer treat (RL note here: if you've never sampled the rich, creamy, swirled heaven of icy orange creamsicle soft serve -- sprouted like an ethereal miracle from the seedy, bar-soaked boardwalks of the Jersey Shore -- you have not yet truly lived, friends).

And now for the headdress.
It's already been blogged to death, but I just couldn't resist: the extreme degree of loving detail, the just-so angles of the scarlet head ribbon + side feathers, all of it is just too delicious for words. Plus you get a close-up of why Glam Affair's newest "Lulu" skin has so quickly become my (and everyone else's) absolute utter obsession. -- Even for those who already own Glam Affair everything: trust me. This one is, as my good friend Sophia Harlow put it, OMG Good.

Today's look was inspired by new piglet friend Lucifur, who not only goaded me into spending all my $L at the newest round of The Arcade, but even got me to reveal my super-secret "Burn Book" (I did manage to stow it away hastily in my bag afterwards). -- Yep, that book's got all the names of those foolish souls who've dared to cross me! Still, I knew I could trust Lucifur to inflict his own special powers of piggie justice on them.
Actually, all Lucifur ended up inflicting was pain on his own behind, when his sister, Angelica, decided to rather enthusiastically test out this sky-colored 2-seater scooter. -- Between the 2 of them, Angelica tends to usually get her way; plus as everybody knows, piggies can't drive.

Some lovely casual goodies for you today, the star of which has gotta be this artfully mussed, shaggy chin-length "Kenzie" style by Truth (one of my top faves in recent releases; sooo love it in the 2-tone "Barbie" color) which I thought paired so nicely with So Many Styles creator Irie Campese's brand-new casual separates. Some furry friends decided to hitch a ride, in the form of Intrigue Co.'s Katharine McGinnis' soon-to-be-released new plushies at the next round of The Arcade, which opens in a few days. (Beware the walrus tho' -- he toots!) Hehe.
I'm also showing you the newest "Thursday" skin by Essences. -- It's rare that a newish skin brand will make me stray from my usual faves, but I must admit I've fallen hard for this intelligentsia face, especially framed by this heavy bangs hair. I'm looking forward to seeing what new fresh faces creator Inka Mexicola will be dreaming up!

The Truth of It All

So . . . the big shopping news this weekend is that Truth District is closing for a 2-day, members-only 50% off sale extravaganza (join the Truth District Update Group for free until Saturday, Oct 8, 12 pm SLT to get in). Expect oodles of sale goodies from the A-list lineup of stores there, including this fabby new "Fall" skin fatpack by Curio (!) for $500L.
Needless to say, Mr. Truth Hawks is also debuting some new styles to kick off the event, including this lovely "Isla" updo, each with its own precise hairbase for a perfectly "natural" match to each shade. You can find most of the items I'm wearing here at the Truth District sale; I added an oversized buckle bag for a military touch, some $50L scallopped print leggings + this nicely textured green jacket, which you can currently scoop for free at Pink Outfitters.
I'm also showing another new Truth hairstyle available this week, this shaggy "Hadley" bob style available exclusively at the Truth District satellite store, featuring a gorges roots option that I really like. -- These chunky drop earrings are the $4L Bliensen + MaiTai vintage gift at 4.44.444 that I mentioned in yesterday's post; the tusk necklace was a $1L find at Glow Studio, which I layered with some perky owl motif jewelry by Je Suis (these gems are color-change, so they literally go with just about everything).
*AND NOW FOR THE RANT: Dear readers, as you know, I rarely (if ever) use this blog to rant about anything, but we encountered something this week that I simply can't keep mum about. It has come to our attention that another store has recently began selling a hearts feets tattoo that is nearly identical in positioning, size, shape + otherwise extremely similar to our "Hearts of Queens" tattoo that we originally created for a blog post earlier this summer on SLexy Fashionista. Whatever the reason behind this incident in fact occurring, when Gavin tried to reach out to the creator to discuss it, what followed was some name-calling and fairly obnoxious commentary thrown our way, including some strong opinions about our (apparent) lack of intelligence. -- It's rotten enough to feel as if you've been pirated (regardless of whether or not that's what actually happened!), but this kind of (overly) aggressive behavior makes me want to FedEx these girls straight to that VH1 show where they teach hopeless souls some freakin' etiquette (Charm School). -- Don'tcha just love classy people? Ugh.

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life . . .

Ever since Magic Nook creator Ayumi Cassini sent her freakin' fantastico DJ earrings my way, I've styled about 10 looks with 'em, never quite satisfied with the result. Here's a couple images that I finally chose to edit, the 1st featuring creator Fae Eriksen's brand-new glitter-strewn, 1-shoulder sweater for Fishy Strawberry (you even get these delicate lace corsages for both chest + hair included, yay!) + some delectable prim foodstuffs, all of which I snagged for free at Poche (absolutely no idea why so many of these beautiful treats are set to $0L; I also can't remember which location had what for free, so foodies might wanna check creator Miyu Adder's profile to hit up her other location to ensure getting all her yummies available).
Since I've been known to get behind the wheels o' steel from time to time, I couldn't resist another look with these earrings, this time featuring a texture-change bag from Kari that I just adore + the current Shag $75L "minibangs" sale hair for Project Themeory (this is being left out for the weekend since it was late being set out - thanks Seb + Dai!)
And in posestuffs news, the latest buzz is that Xanadu Capelo (formerly of Xbordeaux) has opened a new pose store together with creator Lollipop Briggs called Madeleine. OK so . . . lots o' hair happenings this weekend, including the long-awaited unveiling of creator Truth Hawks' brand-new fashionista playground, Truth District. Look for your fave stores + more info on the official blog here; in the meantime, here's a sneak peek at this gorges "Becky" ponytail hair that you can grab for free when the new SIM opens tomorrow at 9 AM SLT.
These dresses are mah girl Fae Eriksen's newest creations for the Fishy Strawberry summer collection (I saw a sneak peek on the store blog section of Style Academy). I was torn between which colors to show you here -- 'specially 'cuz no one does nude colors like Fae; soft, luscious and pink-brown -- but I also wanted you to grab these ruby-red "Nyla" jewels by Exodi, i.e., gemstones so richly detailed that it's hard to believe they're absolutely free.

Clair de Lune

A moonlight stroll with my new free sheep friend Woolimina convinced me to throw together a new tattoo, this time for the feets.
These little hearts for your peds are new at Flasher + can be yours for $25L. The free dress I'm wearing is new in the Wave lucky boards + the princess-like "crown" headband is also new by Solidea Folies. These shiny patent leather "Rivea" pumps by Mstyle added a bright touch of daytime sky color to my nighttime stroll.

Summer Showers

There's a rainy day courtyard mini-festival now at itutu, where you can grab some free hygrangeas in various colors. These were so deliciously poofy I just had to slip 'em on as a skirt; some free grape heels by R2 added paintbox color to this look. My new friend Yua Cale reminded me about the IS Design store, where I remembered these fine green rubber duckys from their $30L gatcha.
It's rare for me to find well-made clothes in rich, vibrant greens in RL, so I was excited for this kelly green wrinkled chiffon number by Acid & Mala. I'm also showing the new freaking adorables "Astrid" messy updo by Truth (another supergirlie style that begs for a fresh-faced skin) + a free umbrella stand gift by Y's House, featuring this crouched "mopping up" animation (I was slightly miffed here 'cuz wiping up Gavin's wet stains made me late for Dancing With the Stars -- again!) -- I'm sure he'll find a way to make it up to me. Hehe.
