Blue food, blue dress, SL sausage + choc-covered banana, nude heels + a red purse; all freefor you in today's look. -- Plus anything involving freeSL foodstuffs on a stick can't be too bad, right?
And just a quickie shot of the free blue lawn pool that you can grab at d-lab as a cute group gift (I believe it's color change). These elves don't come with it (although there is some sort of elf for free as a current group gift). To find this pool, simply walk into the store + look left of the group gift kiosk; you'll see it scattered amidst the other fun things on the store floor. Free blues love + fashionista kisses to all!
It's truly rare in any life that you get to witness exceptional kindness and a concerted effort towards helping others, but this week we are all lucky enough to witness precisely such a thing. Donna Flora creator Squinternet Larnia has been battling a terminal illness, and her friend (and very great lady of SL) Cajsa Lilliehook has organized an event to help Squinternet pay for the frighteningly expensive treatments than can prolong her life. You can read more about Squinternet's battle on the official event blog here; you can do even more by attending the Love Donna Flora event + dropping whatever you can (even if just $1L) into a donations box (they are located on every single vendor cart); or buying anything at the new Donna Flora location here; or just taking the time to drop Squinternet a quick note on the Love Donna Flora website here (Cajsa mentioned to me that Squinternet reads the event blog daily, usually after her doctor's visits, to help lift her spirits).
The Love Donna Flora event opens today, and in a moving testament to
how deeply things like mutual respect, admiration and empathy are felt
in our li'l virtual fashionista world, over 130 creators have come together to make something for the event, with most of the vendors set at 100% donation to Squinternet. -- And if that wasn't enough reason to visit, you've simply got to take a look at the ZOMG wow factor
build, which transports you deep into the rustic Italian countryside, bursting with looming
cypress trees, rows upon rows of wooden vineyards + shabbily crumbling
walls, so artfully put together by smexeh blogger lady Felicity Blumenthal, who I think should take up a SL career in landscaping (don't you sooo want her doing your back yard? I do)!
Many, many thanks to Cajsa Lilliehook for putting together this truly special event, and to all of the creators and organizers who have helped make it happen.
And to Squinternet: your creations have been such a joy to photograph and style over the years, and you have been such a cherished amica. Donna Flora will always be special to SLexy Fashionista, since it will never be forgotten that you were such a strong supporter of this li'l blog over the years -- even in our earliest days, when no one else was -- and you were a big reason why our love of SL grew into anything at all. Most importantly, it is such an indescribable privilege to know such a great friend, artist and person. Everyone here wishes you our very, very best in your arduous fight; please think of us to help boost your daily resolve. Across metaverses and continents, we send you all of our love, always.
The rarest of gems love + fashionista kisses to all!
Sushi & pizza & popsicles & pies at the same time? Why the hell not?
1 of our faithful SLexy Fashionista readers has organized an event for SL foodies called SL Food Fair 2013, and I'm encouraging everyone to hop on over and nom it up. -- Of course anyone who reads this blog knows that I pretty much am obsessed with SL foodstuffs all year round, but it's nice to see an event built around 1 of the most useless -- and therefore, most delish -- things in SL.
I'm off to my ritual annual introspection as the passing of yet another RL bday year hits me. Pies in the skies love + fashionista kisses to all!
Ploom is offering 1 of the prettiest multi-banded ponytail styles of Hair Fair 2013, showcasing creator Helyanwe Vindaloo's signature love of sectioning hair into a falling cascade of individually pouffed-out pieces. I thought this uber-girlie style was tres perfect for showing another look at the newest skin by tsg (another specialist in all things girlie), as well as this new studded retake of the much-beloved "Papi" jumpsuit by Ricielli. Take a look. Aren't these free accessories fun? The green retro radio is actually a purse; this + the anime-like floral hairpin (+ ribbon), pink floral nails, popsicle + watermelon glasses are all yours for the price of $0L (see the Styling Credits below for more info). This dollfaced cell phone cover necklace was also a steal for $30L (+ since I'm always losing my phone in RL, it's all the more appropo).
These latest styles by Truth celebrate high summer with all the best accoutrements of the season: long, flowy locks, girlie double-braids, mini-bangs + even your choice of single or double headbands. Take a look.
Btw I've been wearing some of my fave new skins of the summer, and these pics offer a li'l comparison: the Essences "Cho" skin (this 2nd pic here, + 1 of creator Inka Mexicola's most exquisite yet); the latest "Kotoko" by tsg (tres innocent + even more adorbs with creator Eilfie Sugarplum's recommended shape made specifically for it; shown immediately below); + the skin I've been addicted to all season, the "Summer" skin by Glam Affair (shown 1st above).
It's blisteringly hot here on the West Coast, so I'll take all the Summery looks I can find in-world. Summer styled love + fashionista kisses to all!
Even amidst all the fashionista choices at Hair Fair 2013, sometimes the most memorable styles are also the most natural ones. With its long, flowing locks + soft, elegant waves, I was utterly captivated by this long "Counting Stars" style by Exile, especially in this luscious strawberry blonde color (love the dramatic ombre streaks). Au naturel love + fashionista kisses to all!
As anyone who reads this blog already knows, I kinda have a thing for ponys. So it only made sense that when I laid eyes on this mini-sideways-pouffy one at Hair Fair 2013 -- especially with the split heavy bangs -- I knew it had to be mine.
This style is by LaViere, and I must add that this booth was 1 of the cutest at the event: all the styles are versatile and romantic, and definitely worth a demo; plus I love all the mini-streaks that you get, even in the dark shades like this light black that I'm wearing here. This shot also shows a nicely-made free pair of diamond studs, and also why my absolute new fave brown eye is this new "Scoria" shade by Ikon, which might just be the liveliest, richest, most chocolatey brown eye I've ever slipped on my avi.
So much hair, so much shopping! Mini-ponyed love + fashionista kisses to all!
Hair Fair 2013 kicks off today and as per usual, the tireless efforts of Sasy Scarborough + her event team have put together a lavish shopping experience for hair mavens across the grid. Presented via a whimsical Legos-inspired, primary-colors build (check out the endless rainbow ladder into the clouds -- my fave detail of the build), this annual iconic event offers a comprehensive hair shopping experience that spans across 4 SIMs. As always, this event benefits Wigs for Kids, so you can shop knowing that your $L are going towards a very worthy cause.
I'm opening my coverage with a brand that is new to me, and the style isn't even 100% mesh; but the heavy bangs, these luxuriously straight strands + this heavenly pouffed-out crown had many a fashionista showering this small store with their "Buy" buttons (be sure to grab the free mini-'fro gift here too).
Hair Fair is always jam-packed when it opens, but don't despair; you can sneak peek many more styles via the official Flickr group here.
Stay tuned for many more hairs to come (my $Lsailed quickly out the door at the bloggers' preview). Coiffed love + fashionista kisses to all!
When finding oneself lost in the sewer pipes, it helps to have goggles (for mysterious wet things that might spray you), boots (for stepping in mysterious wet things) + a popsicle (to distract from the smell). Also, a feisty elephant guide ('specially one with a perky bowtie) are the best guides for helping find your way out of the drains. Hmmm. It's possible that I got a dud.
Many thanks to creator Blake Rage for allowing me to shoot in his deliciously detailed, rusted-out build for his Avoid store. Smelly detour love + fashionista kisses to all!
High summer is here, along with many scrumptious things tres fitting for the hot, arid season: I'm loving this texture-change cowboy hat hair by Truth (the notched straw texture of the hat is so meticulously done); the extremely pretty "Summer" skin by Glam Affair (which would work beautifully in any season, actually) + some silky, ruffled separates by Teefy that you can scoopie at the newest round of Collabor88. -- Plus how liquidy + beguiling are these dark eyes? More to love from creator Ikon Innovia's latest "Ascension" line (and a dead-on match to this particular shade of rusted brown straw hat, I might add). Fireflies in the desert always help spot the most spectacular sunsets. High summer love + fashionista kisses to all!
It seems that some of us are too scared to take the plunge, even in poolside waters. These latest cap hairs by Truth are perfect for adding a touch o' no-fuss casual summer style (how fitting would these be for summer with some denim cutoffs + your fave tank)? I'm showing the shorter one (which is actually a men's style) above together with a pretty free striped dress by OrsiniRed (yet another talented blogger's inworld imprint) + some other fun freebies that are yours for the taking, courtesy of the ongoing plethora of current hunts. I also had to show you my newest absolute fave dark eye, this beguiling "Darkstar" shade in Ikon's latest "Ascension" line. -- Mysteriously ombre + rich in color (despite the dark hue; something that's quite rare in dark eyes) with hints of indigo, and full of realistic shine, I loved wearing this eye against a tomato-red lipstick + thick lashes.
Hope everyone's enjoying the summer's lazy days (I can't wait to be a lazie when I head out to the West Coast this week). Taking the plunge love + fashionista kisses to all!
